Evan made the Morada Little League Minor A All-Star team this year. It was a great day and a fast moving game. They didn't win but they fought to the end. I love to watch Evan play baseball, he has a real talent and he LOVES the game!

Family Art and Music Night

Family Art and Music Night --is a great evening out, at our school. It's a chance for the kids to show their art entries, each grade level does a musical number, we have a silent auction with gift baskets donated by each grade level and of course, FREE DESSERT. Evan had a baseball game and was upset he couldn't be there but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. It was a nice night and Alysabeth and Caden did a great job singing!

Hi there--I know, I know, it's been a few months. Now that we're out of school and baseball season has come to an end maybe, I can get back to blogging. I'm not making any promises but I will try to be better. So, Let me catch you up on what the Webbs have been doing the past few months.

CA Mission Trip/Project

The Twins had to pick one of the 21 California Missions and do a project on it. We decided that Alysabeth would build a model of a Mission and Evan would put together a picture/presentation board. We took a trip up to beautiful Sonoma, CA--wine country--and toured the Mission San Francisco Solano.

Disneyland Pictures

Hi There! Here are a couple of pictures from Disneyland that I finally got from my Mom--she packed them away for safe keeping while we were still at Disneyland and then I forgot to ask for them when we got home.

I love this picture--Caden looks completely terrified but he had a great time--although, he would only go on this ride one time. Alysa's face is pretty funny too. What a great trip this was!

Here's the whole gang at Goofy's Kitchen for the character breakfast. It was probably the most expensive breakfast I have and ever will eat but it was so fun to watch the kids interact with the Disney characters. They collected autographs and the Twins and my Dad were sung to for their birthdays--it was a terrific morning!

Well, 2008 was over in a flash and here we are 5 days into 2009--crazy how the time flies as we grow older! We had a great New Years celebration, we spent the night at my Mom and Dad's along with my sister, her husband and 3 kids and of course the dogs were all there!
The kids rang the New Year in with the East Coast--9pm our time, then it was off to bed so the grown-ups could play games and enjoy some peace.

We did sparklers--it was cold and damp I think that's why the pictures are so smokey!

Here he is--Evan had the lead in the school play--"Surfing Santa". He is, as you can see Santa. The play was wonderful--if it wouldn't take forever to upload I would have it on the blog. The principal told me--"That boy of yours has some voice" to which I replied, "That's the Welsh in him." He did great!

Alysabeth was the heroine in the play--a girl named Ellen that helped save Santa's factory from a hostile take over. She had a small singing solo and did a beautiful job--it was a great night!

Caden had a great program at school also. The first grade did each letter of the alphabet with a holiday saying and sang a bunch of songs. I have that all on video as well--again, too long to upload. This is Caden dressed in his PJs--he had a Polar Express party his last day of school--he took donut holes to share and had a great time!

On Saturday, December 13th my niece Madison celebrated her 8th birthday and was baptized. She was so nervous but she made it through and we're so proud of her!

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving at my parent's home. Our family, my sister and her husband and 3 children and of course my Mom and Dad were there. We have so much to be thankful for this year--it has been a rough year here in California for a lot of people and I feel so blessed to have a roof over our head, food on our table and a steady paycheck. But, I am most grateful to have my family and so many wonderful friends! I'm especially grateful that I got to see all of my cousins, aunts and uncles this year even though it wasn't on the happiest of occasions. Our Nana will be sorely missed but she is SO happy to be back with her one true love, my wonderful Papa! Love to you both!

Longbeach Trip

OK, I went to a Teacher's Conference in Longbeach the weekend before Thanksgiving. It wasn't my idea but we made a short detour the day before and somehow ended up at Disneyland. It was a great 4 days (only one spent at Disneyland).

This is a picture of the group of teachers I went with to the Conference. It was a great experience and I learned a lot from the classes I took.

This is of course the castle at Disneyland all lit up for Christmas--so beautiful! I want to take the kids next year when it is all decorated for the Holidays!

This is "It's a Small World". They have it all lit up and the whole ride is Christmas around the world and the children are singing Christmas songs.

On Monday, Nov. 17th I went with 80 first graders on their fieldtrip. We walked to the Junior High to see a production of "The Princess and the Pea" and then we went to Lodi Lake for a picnic lunch and a frolic in the park. We had fun but it was a lot of walking and there were quite a few complainers--Caden was one of them. Have to hand it to him though--his Asthma was pretty bad that day.

Sunday, November 16th, the Twins participated in the Benight Piano Studio Fall Recital. They both did so well and we have video of each of them--however, since Brad HAD to sit on the isle, I gave him camera duty (I'm usually in charge of the camera!) and during Alysabeth's piece, he flipped the battery compartment open when he pressed record so we have like 2 seconds of her playing--I will record her here at home so you can hear the whole thing.

I know,I know, what took me so long! Things are so busy--PTA, work, kids lessons and piano recital, dance and the end of Fall Baseball--it all kind of comes at you at the same time.

The evening after my Nana's funeral, we had a nice family dinner. It was a wonderful evening of memories. It's hard to believe that we all grew up so close and now we are spread all over the U.S. But, thanks to my Nana and Papa we will remain close in our hearts and now, the INTERNET!!!

My Nana

My Nana, Betty Jane Southgate, passed away this morning. I wanted to take this time to thank her for being such a blessing in my life. I took my daughter to dance today and had a chance to sit in my car and reflect on some pretty amazing memories. As you may or may not know I grew up in a house just a few feet away from my Nana and Papa on a mountain-top in Colorado. Some of my best days were spent sitting in their garden sneaking sugar snap peas right off the vines and helping get the wood ready for winter. During the week before Thanksgiving my Nana would be baking like mad--there would be dozens of rolls rising under dish towels in front of the fireplace and the smell of orange zest from her famous orange rolls. I can see her now on Christmas wearing a beautiful long skirt, white blouse and her holly earrings, serving everyone date nut pudding and passing out gifts, while the Jackie Gleason record played in the background. Then there was Easter with handmade sugar eggs and giant egg hunts, when there wasn't snow or the dogs didn't eat the eggs. Fourth of July out on their porch while my Dad tried not to burn down the forest. She must have made dozens of doll cakes for her 6 granddaughters and specialty cakes for her 4 grandsons. All of us grand kids would tear up her back room playing and making haunted houses and trying to sneak a peek at Papa's latest painting. Their house was a wonderful place to be and it was tough when my Papa passed and we all moved on to new places. The Holidays have never quite been the same. But, I'm so grateful for the memories I created there and the traditions that I am now passing on to my own children.

I will miss my Nana but I know she is so happy to be with her Sweetheart again--she has missed him so much! They're together tonight and they're celebrating with their loved ones and with all those who they have touched over the years. I Love You Nana and Papa!

How I will always remember them!

She became a first time Great-Grandmother on October 4th, 1999 to my surprise Twins--I'm so grateful she was in the hospital to hear and see that one!

Here GiGi is celebrating Caden's birthday this past May. Caden held a special place in his heart for his GiGi--he was always the first to give her a hug and a kiss "Hello".

Well, Evan is at it again! Winter Baseball has started and Evan had his first game on Saturday, Sept. 6th. Winterball is not as competitive and they don't generally keep score but Evan informed me that they beat them by 6 runs!

On Friday, Sept. 5th our Ward had a BBQ and Swim Party at one of our member's home. They have a lot of property and it is so beautiful. The kids had a great time in the pool, the giant slip-n-slides and the trampoline--it was a fun night and the kids were all tuckered out when we finally left there after dark!

Space Derby

Here's Evan with his rocket. Instead of the typical car derby, Evan's pack did a Space Derby. He did pretty well considering we had soaked his rubber bands in baby oil which made them deteriorate and he had to use other bands that had not been prestretched. If I remember right, he came in 6th--not bad. He just had another pack meeting and came home with 6 more belt loops. He's doing well and enjoys it!

Ok--I have to apologize because I left my camera at home the first day of school so, I took pictures with my cell phone. It is a new phone and well--when I finally figured out how to get the pictures off my phone, they're tiny and so--I will continue to try and figure out how to download a normal size picture off my phone and if I ever do, I will post them. Just know, the kids were cute and ready and raring' to go. Caden enjoys first grade and has a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Davis. We decided to put the Twins in the same class this year and they seem to be doing really well--their teacher's name is Mr. Hyske--he's very nice! The Twins have a ton of homework this year and we're trying to figure out how to juggle all the extra curricular stuff they do and get all their school work done. We're getting there! Please forgive me, I am usually so good about keeping up this Blog. But, since the kids started school and I started working and then there are the 3 dance classes Alysa is taking (all on a different night), piano lessons, activity days and Scouts and soon to come--Winter baseball, I have not had much time. I have a couple of first day of school pictures and some others that I will post as soon as I pull them off the camera and my camera phone. If you haven't already heard, I got into a minor fender bender on Saturday--I won't post any of those pictures :) --so things have been a bit challenging with one car but I should be getting my van back tomorrow--I hope! On Tuesday 7/8, we went to Emily's recital. She did a beautiful job and we were so glad we were there--since they were able to be in CA for Alysa's recital.

On Wednesday, July 9th, it was LAGOON day. I didn't take my camera into the park because I had too much fun going on all the rides to worry about pictures. But, here are the kids in the awesome matching outfits Grandma bought them--once again, Haley is missing. I heard a lot of people talking about their outfits--they all looked GREAT and they were easy to spot! It was such a fun day! All of the Webb clan was there and my brother Jack and his wife Amanda came as well! All three of my children went on the white rollercoaster this year--that's right, the BIG rollercoaster! In fact, Caden went 3 times!!!!!! We stayed until the place closed down--we were exhausted but Lagoon Day is always one of the highlights of our Utah trip!

The kids begged Grandpa for a Slip and Slide and well, here they GO! They had a terrific time. I didn't get any pictures of little Haley but she just loved hanging out with the "big kids". Thanks Grandpa for providing them with some wet entertainment!

On Friday, July 11th, we went to IHOP for breakfast--Alysa's favorite! From there we went to the "This is the Place" park. Brad and I went here on our first date but it has changed tremendously! It was a nice day and the kids had a lot of fun!

On Saturday, July12th, we met my Best Friend, Sheri and her family at a Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah. They drove all the way from Nampa, Idaho and I am so grateful! It was so great to see her again, we haven't seen each other since the Twins were about 8 months old. So, I finally got to meet her three beautiful children and she got to see how much the Twins have grown and meet Caden. We send birthday and Christmas presents to each others children so, it was nice to see them all in person! Jeff and Sheri, THANKS again for making that sacrifice of time and GAS to come and visit with us, it was just like old times!

Saturday, June 28th was Alysabeth's dance recital! She did an amazing job--I especially loved her tap dancing number! We're so proud of her--she really works hard!

Friday, June 27th we went to the big trees. After a trip of winding roads--glad nobody got sick in the car--we made it. The girls got right out of the car and found this giant pinecone!

I didn't take any pictures yesterday but I thought I would let you know what we did. Carla and Blaine wanted 'In n Out' for lunch--have to have that at least once while you're in CA! From there we took the kids to the Ghirardelli Factory Outlet store and Ice Cream Shoppe. Evan and Alysa each got a GIANT banana hot fudge sundae and Caden got a s'more sundae with a heaping spoonful of marshmallow cream on top--he was in heaven. Everyone was full and happy so we came home and chilled. Blaine and Carla were kind enough to babysit for Brad and I since we had to attend a Rotary function--which was fun and a bit crazy. Thanks Carla and Blaine! I will try to take some pictures today!

Tuesday, June 24th was a very smoky day outside (tons of fires burning in Northern CA, right now). So, we took the kids to "Someplace Fun" in Galt. We also went to the Spaans Cookie Co.

A Family Visit

On Monday, June 23rd, Brad's sister Carla, her husband Blaine and their kids, Alex and Emily arrived for a visit. We had a nice BBQ dinner with bratwurst and fruit salad and after, Uncle Blaine took us to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a sweet treat. Here are all the cousins hugging the Rocky Mountain bear. Aunt Carla even bought a chocolate bisquit for our pup Miss Violet.

Well, our baseball season came to an end yesterday. Friday was a tight game, we squeaked by with a 4 to 3 win in the last inning. Saturday was a fairly easy game for us, we won 11 to 1. Sunday was a rough game. We played Pioneer, who we played first in the tournament and lost to. Our boys did an amazing job! We lost the game 5 to 6. However, the team we played lost two of their pitchers for the game due to cheating and they also messed with their batting line-up. Brad gave a wonderful speech to the boys at the end about how far we'd come and even though we lost, we never played dirty! Evan made it to bat 3 times and hit 2 of those times and was walked the third. Evan also made the catch of his life in right field--I started crying the second he caught that ball--it was AMAZING!!!! Wish I'd got that on video! The boys did a wonderful job this season--can't wait for Winter Ball! It has been so fun watching Evan this season--baseball is totally his thing! His coach said that he has the "prettiest swing" of anyone on their team. We're so proud of him!!

Caden spent the day watching "Jurassic Park". Here is his medieval castle chuck full of dinosaurs.

OH, and I had to get a close up of this. Who knew that Darth Vader lived during the Jurassic period. But here he is amongst the palm trees with a battery-powered tealight campfire. Caden has to be one of the most creative, imaginative kids I know.

Here it is, Caden lost his first tooth, happened last night 6-15-08. He is a bit teary eyed because Daddy pulled it out with some dental floss. I wish I had on video what he said when it came out--one of the words was "Hallelujah". The tooth fairy brought him $2--she must have thought he was pretty brave because $2 is pretty generous! My baby is growing up so fast.

With all of the baseball games, it is easy to get pictures of our boys but since Alysa's dance classes are closed to us, we can't take any pictures. So, here are her recital pictures. Her recital is June 28th and she will be in two numbers. The picture above is her tap costume and she will be dancing to a song called "Trickle, Trickle".

This is her ballet costume. She will be dancing to a Swan Lake song. Nana is making her a poodle skirt for the Finale--their theme for the recital is "Happy Days". I will be sure to take many more pictures on the night of the recital.

Alysabeth, Elle and Samantha. These girls have been at each other for the past few months so you can imagine my shock when they posed for this picture like they were best buds. Oh well, we will see what happens next year with the three of them. They're each holding their "Wilbur" pigs--they read "Charolette's Web".

My sweet angels. It brings tears to my eyes to look at this picture. It is amazing to me how fast my children are growing up. People used to say when the twins were babies, it would get easier. To be honest, I long for the days when they were rummaging through kitchen cabinets and making a huge mess in the playroom (although they still make messes). As my children get older, there are new challenges to overcome and they learn more about our world that I wish I could shelter them from. I guess you just have to pray that they will choose the right and come to you when they need help. I love them so much and I am so grateful to be a mother and a wife--it is the GREATEST position I will ever hold!

These twins lost their mom during birth--twin calfs are very rare, so we were told. Caden's teacher got to bottle feed one of them.
